Our Guarantee
You will receive a signed guarantee from us when you pick up your puppy. This is the only guarantee we honor, and not a reprint from this web site. Your guarantee will be signed, and dated.
We guarantee hips and elbows for 2 years and 3 months from the date of birth of your puppy. OFA will not give you a permanent number until your dog is 2 years old. We give you the extra 3 months to get your x-rays taken and sent in to OFA for reading. Your puppy must have a permanent form of identification. We prefer you microchip your puppy as soon as possible after purchase.

In the unlikely event that your dog comes back with a poor reading on the x-rays, we will require a second Vet to take the x-rays and have them sent back in to OFA, at your expense. We will need to see the results and notes from your Vet, on his letterhead. We also want to talk with your Vet. You will also need to furnish your records of all vaccinations, worming, and feeding program from the time you purchased your dog, so keep good records. Our guarantee is void if there is any evidence of abuse or improper feeding. If your dog’s hips or elbows have been injured as a result of an accident or malnourishment, our guarantee is void. You must make every effort to keep your dog safe. If your dog has been used for breeding before the x-rays are taken at or after 2 years of age, our guarantee is voided.

We do not require that your dog be put down, but you must have your dog spayed or neutered to receive another dog from us. AKC registration papers must be signed, and returned to us.  We do not refund your money, or pay your Vet bills, unless it is a special circumstance, agreed upon by both parties. We will apply the purchase price of your dog, to a puppy from the next available breeding. If the purchase price for that particular pup is more than you originally paid, you will owe the difference. We do not bump someone who has already sent a deposit on that litter, but we would give you first pick out of a future litter, if it is not spoken for in advance.

You must use Northwoodschocolatelab or NCL in the registered name of your puppy for us to honor our guarantee.

Our eye guarantee is for inherited eye disorders, excluding allergies, for 1 year from the date of birth of your puppy. We will require a second opinion at your expense, should any problems show up regarding eyes. The readings must be sent to CERF for examination.

Your guarantee may be different from this one, owing to changes in wording or problems that occur that we feel the need to address in future guarantees. Again, we honor the signed and dated guarantee that you receive at the time of purchase.
Our guarantees are void if the ownership of your dog has changed in any way. Guarantees are to the original purchaser. The possible exception is a re-homed dog. If we re-home the dog, we quite possibly will honor the guarantee, providing we have a written note from your Vet, stating the dog is in good health and has not been abused. The dog also can not have been placed in a humane society or pound for any reason.

Please contact us first, if you can not keep your dog. We will try to help you find a new home for your dog. Remind children that this new family addition will quite possibly still be alive when they go off to college, or have a family of their own. A Lab will probably be with your family for over 12 years or more. Our socialization and your care for the first months are very critical to the development of your pups physical and emotional development. There are many excellent books on the market for training and caring for your new pet. We also recommend that you enroll your new dog in a puppy class.

All puppies are raised in the house and well socialized.   They are monitored around the clock.
